No Name Pub

4.6.10

After we had fixed the dinghy, we decided to sail back to Big Pine Key and search out No Name Pub. It is apparently a hole in the wall bar that serves really good pizza and brews their own beer in the backyard. The problem is finding it.
We sailed back into the narrow channel in front of Big Pine, that we were technically too big to be in. We forced an anchorage - practically right in the middle of the channel (screw the small motor boats) and set out in our dinghy for shore. No problems with the dinghy this time. It worked like a champ!
We made it into the marina and were pointed in the general direction of the bar. We hoofed it, only a few blocks and found the pub pretty easily. But it was definitely a hole in the wall. We sat at the bar, ordered the locally brewed beer and had a shrimp pizza. It was good eating and the beer was excellent. We bought shirts and talked with the bartender about our boating plans.
The cool thing about the place is that there are dollar bills up - literally stapled/taped/hung to every wall and ceiling space in there. There are even layers of bills hung up on the ceilings and walls that are easily accessible. So, we joined the rest of the tourists and wrote our blog address on a dollar bill and hung it on the wall, hopefully in plain view where someone may see it and join our blog!
It was a great bar and worth the trip.
Tomorrow we head out for the 2day journey to Key West.
